The Book Smuggler’s Den adores reading, and as such, we are always extremely happy and grateful to receive review copies that we have either requested or personally accepted.
The Book Smuggler’s Den welcomes contact from authors/publishers with regard to honest reviews of their books or involvement in upcoming projects. We will only give our honest, true opinion of the book that we are reviewing and note that we are under no obligation to give a false positive review. The Book Smuggler’s Den will try its very best to complete a review within 90 days,
or the date of publication, but due to work commitments, we cannot guarantee reviews will be completed within a certain time frame. Likewise, we withhold the right to not review a book in certain circumstances, such as if we really do not enjoy the book.
The Book Smuggler’s Den would be honored to read and review your title! All we ask is that you be sure it goes along with the book review editor’s guidelines below.
- We will accept hardcovers or paperbacks from authors and/or publishers.
- We will accept digital copies from authors and/or publishers.
- We will only give honest reviews about the books I have enjoyed reading and if we didn’t like a title as much as others, we will let people know that as well.
- All reviews are made by Book Smuggler’s Den.
- If you send us a book and would like a review on a certain day or by a certain time, please let us know so we can do so.
Reviews are spoiler-free.
If I happen to mention a spoiler, it’s tagged appropriately or called out before the review. I don’t consider anything that happens in the first 15% of the book or anything mentioned in the summary a spoiler.
Reviews are 100% my opinion
If a book doesn’t work for me, it doesn’t necessarily say anything about that book and everything about me. I’ve tried being the audience for every single book, but for some reason, I’m not. Trust me, no one’s more disappointed about this than I am.
I reserve the right not to review any particular book.
Reviews are posted on my blog, Goodreads, Amazon, and wherever your book is sold. I do not rate books I don’t finish. I do, however, post something on Goodreads (and sometimes the blog) as to why I ended up putting it on the “Did Not Finish” list. I recognize that my readers may very well be interested in books that didn’t work for me, and I want to bring them to their attention!
I do post low-starred reviews on my blog. However, I strive to do so constructively. I always post positives and negatives of the books I read (because my negatives are someone else’s positives) and attempt to offer a balanced perspective of what I thought worked and didn’t for any particular book.
I review books, not authors.
There’s a difference! Books may receive a low ranking, but I’ve never met an author who hasn’t deserved five stars.
For the sake of transparency: finished copies I receive and choose not to keep will be donated to my library.
