A Morning with Blueburry will make you giggle

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I read it along with my three-year-old, and he approves of it, too. We had a good laugh at all the photos, and I enjoyed the creativity of making a book about a muffin. My family has a lot of books, and none of them feature a piece of food or a talking piece of food. Blueburry wants to get across the kitchen to have a perfect snack. He uses his creativity to figure out how to get to the kitchen table, only to fail each time. Ugh! Will he ever get there?
Fun noises
SQUISH!
KERCHOOOOOOO!
SPLAAT!
These are just three noises that A Morning with Blueburry features. This style reminded me of the Little Blue Truck series, with the noises throughout the book. They catch your attention and draw your eye to the accompanying text. So, for the littlest readers who like to grab pages and turn them quickly (i.e., my son) he appreciated the enlarged text and funny drawing.
Cute illustrations
The drawings in A Morning with Blueburry remind me of Shel Silverstein with its straightforward black and white sketches. They are more like doodles. The illustrations accompany this quick read perfectly. The reader meets three characters as Blueburry walks through his kitchen one morning. Each says nothing, but the drawings speak for themselves, along with the fun featured words.
Engaging for kids
At the end of the book, Jon Seymour included activities for kids to enjoy with an adult: a muffin recipe, a place to draw your own muffin, and posing the question, “What fun adventures could Blueburry the Mufifn go on next?” All three prompts allow kids to interact with adults and use their creativity.
What’s next in the Blueburry series?
If you ask me, Blueburry should go into a lunchbox. I’d also like to see Blueburry go to a school or church bake sale. I’ll leave my ideas at that. Tielmour Press invites you to share your ideas with them on social media. You can find them on Facebook, Instagram, and X @TielmourPress.
