FAQS

Book Marketing

How long have you been in the book marketing business?

Watkins Digital Marketing began in 2016. Two years later, Dani began the Book Smuggler’s Den as a platform that focuses on authors. All authors need a resume and the Book Smuggler’s Den is a place where authors can post stories, links to where to purchase their books, links to their blog/website, and connect with others on social media. The Book Smuggler’s Den also has a wealth of information for authors to submit to contests, find a literary agent, and other writing tools that make you look more professional.

Why should I hire you versus another author and book marketing agency?

We’ve found that working with other book marketing agencies means you pay a whole lot more. The Book Smuggler’s Den takes pride in working closely with authors. We know that when digital markers and authors work one-on-one together, the work gets done faster and more efficiently than with a large firm or agency.

Do I have to purchase a service before we start?

Yes. We require payment first because this secures your deadline in our schedule. The Book Smuggler’s Den understands that there are plenty of sites that offer marketing services specifically to authors. Our philosophy on that is you get what you pay for. We charge what we charge because we know what it takes to generate sales for you.

What is the typical process for each service?

To be sure that we are both on the same page, we’ll set up a call (phone, Skype, or Zoom) at your convenience. We like to take our time and get to know exactly who you are, what you need help with, and any specific details that you’d like us to include in the serivce you purchase. After we’ve gotten as many details as you can provide, we’ll draft up a plan to send to you. Only when you are completely satisfied with the work is the project marked as done.

What happens if I don’t like the initial proposal?

Usually, the first proposal is pretty solid. However, if we missed the point, we can go back through things together until we are both on the same page. Watkins Digital Marketing and the Book Smuggler’s Den wants to be sure that you see results.

How do you measure key performance indicators (KPI) and return on investments (ROI)?

Watkins Digital Marketing has a solid system in place to measure KPIs and ROIs for each project. Contact us today for your free consultation and we’ll explain in detail each project proposal you will receive before agreement of the service you purchase.

What genres do you market?

We accept all genres but absolutely NO EROTICA. Tasteful romance is accepted.

How long are turnaround times?

Turnaround times vary from project to project. Please see each service page for more information. Of course, if you require a faster turnaround time, we can speak about that in our consultation call.

How do we communicate with one another?

The Book Smuggler’s Den works with people in all states and countries. We communicate with Zoom, Skype, phone, or email. Please allow for a 24 – 48 hour for us to respond to your message.

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept electronic payments through Venmo. If you don’t have a Venmo account, you can still pay through Venmo using a Visa or MasterCard credit card. I can send information on how to set that up. Please note that Venmo charges a fee of approximately 3%.

Do I have to sign a contract?

Yes. All projects require a signed contract that explains the details of the project we’ve agreed to, our refund policy, our privacy policy, and terms and conditions. Contracts also protect you, the author, that we are here only to market your book.
